ABOUT US

Irene Molina  Craftswoman of the Valencian Community with C.Q.D. (Craftswoman Qualification Document) number 598, issued by the “The Regional Ministry of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Trade and Labour” of the Valencian Generality

I started painting in ceramic workshops. Afterwards, I worked in a porcelain company, where they established a line of traditional ceramics. In this enterprise is where I decorated the pieces, and learning how to make these on the lathe.

Behind several years of work in this firm, in 1984 I founded my own Ceramic Crafts Workshop, in the old “Fábrica dels Canters”. I had as master craftsman Mr. Antonio Diago Marco, from Ceramic Potter of Onda. After several years of studies and work in Traditional Artistic Ceramics, he has managed to create his own designs of pieces and drawings with different enamels and colors.

The production process begins with the own elaboration of both its glazes and its ceramic pastes, starting from the raw materials. The pieces are manufactured in a unique way in moulds or on a lathe, either in double-firing or single-firing at high temperature.

Moreover, I manufacture sponge ceramic for decoration pieces to be decorated with coloured glazes. As in traditional artistic decoration in Onda, being the only workshop in the town with these characteristics.

Her work has been exhibited at various fairs and craft exhibitions, as much in the Valencian Community and in the rest of Spain. She was chosen to represent the traditional ceramics of the Valencian Community to give life to the stamp that represented the trade of ceramic craftsman in the WORLD EXHIBITION OF PHILATELY, in the presentation held at the City of Arts and Sciences in May 2004, in Valencia.

Teacher in Ceramic Courses in the Municipal School of Ceramics in Onda.
